SHLOHMO - THE WAY U DO
LIARS - No.1 Against The Rush
Taken from WIXIW (wish you) out on Mute, June 5th.
SPOEK MATHAMBO - LET THEM TALK
Let Them Talk is the new single taken from Johannesburg’s Spoek Mathambo.
The LP Father Creeper was released on Sub Pop last week.
Another one for your scheduler at TGE this year.
OLIVER TANK - HELP YOU BREATHE
Another great Australian artist to check out at TGE this year.
CHET FAKER - TERMS & CONDITIONS
One of the artists I’m most excited about having at TGE this year is Chet Faker. Maybe it’s that I always fall to calming melodies during the turmoil that is planning such a complex beast of an event or maybe its purely down to his guttural voice which seems to resonates deep in your chest with a odd yearning-like quality. The tones and melodies also remind me slightly of late 90’s Brighton vibes, which instantly signifies good times to me.
A moment of realisation must have hit when his reworking of ‘No Diggity’ nudged Bon Iver of the Hype charts after being given to one blogger by Nick himself. Nice work.
Chet Faker releases ‘Thinking In Textures’ on March 26th.
Lovely pals over at The Guardian have another exclusive stream for everyone, this time in the form of the long awaited LP release from Kindness
KORALLREVEN - SA SA SAMOA (Elite Gymnastics Remix)” [ft. Julianna Barwick]
Get your rave on. Seems indie-dance music is finally coming round to the ways the the 90’s rave
Notably Miike Snow’s most recent release ‘Paddling Out’ ) with it’s rave friendly piano-vibes.
Korallreven tends to run closer to this style than others, but with beats reminiscent of cross-over the breaks used when Happy Hardcore met D’n’B, and a higher vocal sample from Whitney’s ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ this track is bang on where I spent my youth.
Hasting Pier All-Nighters.
CRYSTAL FIGHTERS - LA PLAGE
Yay for new Crystal Fighters summertime-funnertime video. Will we get new tracks in time for their Wilderness gig?
JONAS RATHSMAN - FEELING YOU
Love this. Is this deep disco?
Mikhael Paskalev - I Spy
This is great. Both the song and video make me dance alone in public
